Letter 4

Dear Survivor:

First of all I would like to say “It is NOT your fault”.   You may not believe this now but I believe that if this is told to you now after awhile you will believe it.   I want to tell you now no matter what anyone says to you, you could not have done anything different to prevent what has happened to you.   I don't care if you were dressed un-modestly, making out with the person, or in the person's bedroom, It was not your fault.

I am not going to lie to you and tell you that this is going to go away and you'll forget all about it because it won't, but the pain will ease.   You will never be exactly the same as you were before you were abused but you will be stronger and maybe even better.   I want you to know that you are not a victim.   I read in a book that a victim is someone who died, killed themselves, or is lost in the back ward of some hospital because of their abuse.   If you are here reading this letter today then you are a survivor.   I will give you these words from a fellow survivor, myself, “Don't give up when life gives you obstacles, fight through them and live on”.   I want to tell you to tell yourself these four words often, “I am a Survivor”.

Take advantage of all help offered to you because it will bring you one step closer to healing.

I give you my love fellow survivor.
