Letter 2
Dear
Survivor:
Like
many before me, I am a survivor of incest in my childhood and rape
as an adult woman. It is hard to give words of comfort when
I am still seeking the same. However, one thing I can share
with you is that I joined a support group. I was amazed of
the amount of therapy and support that I have experienced from those
of similar tragedies. To really know that I am not alone
was extremely comforting.
I learned strategies for when I was having anxiety and flashbacks.
I learned that I am not responsible for what happened to
me and I learned to let go of some of the guilt and shame that I
have been living with. For your salvation surround yourself
with support from a Rape Crisis Center, your family or loved ones
and take one day at a time. If you have setbacks remind yourself
it's okay, but keep trying to move forward.
